How to Handle Sexual Comments and Body-Focused Harassment

Repeated staring, jokes, messages, or comments about your chest or any body part are not harmless when they make you uncomfortable. The responsibility belongs to the person behaving disrespectfully—not to your clothes, development, or personality. You deserve boundaries and support.
Prioritize immediate safety
If you feel threatened, move toward trusted people, a staffed room, or a public place. Do not isolate yourself to confront a group. Contact local emergency services if there is immediate danger. Trust discomfort even when someone says they were “only joking.”
Set a boundary if it feels safe
Use a short statement: “Do not comment on my body,” “Stop staring,” or “That message is inappropriate.” You do not need to debate or explain. A friend can stand with you, and you can leave immediately afterward. Avoid retaliation that could increase danger.
Document and report
- Write down dates, places, witnesses, and exact words or actions.
- Save screenshots and messages without reposting them publicly.
- Tell a parent, guardian, counselor, teacher, coach, or safeguarding lead.
- Ask what protective steps will happen and when you will receive an update.
If the first adult dismisses you, tell another. For online harassment, block and report the account after preserving evidence. Never send intimate images in response to pressure.
Use practical support
Ask for seating changes, escorted transitions, adjusted group assignments, or platform privacy settings. These are safety measures, not admissions that you caused the behavior. Clothing changes are your choice; they should never be presented as the solution to someone else’s harassment.
Care for yourself afterward
Harassment can cause anger, shame, poor sleep, or difficulty concentrating. Talk with someone supportive, spend time in places where you feel respected, and consider a counselor. If an adult is involved, if touching occurred, or if threats or image-sharing are present, report urgently to a trusted adult and appropriate safeguarding authority. You are not alone and you did not cause it.
